WELCOME HOME: A VETERAN'S STORY
ResourcesNational Center for Post-Traumatic Stress DisorderThe National Center for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) was created within the Department of Veterans Affairs in 1989, in response to a Congressional mandate to address the needs of veterans with military-related PTSD. Its mission was, and remains: To advance the clinical care and social welfare of America's veterans through research, education, and training in the science, diagnosis, and treatment of PTSD and stress-related disorders. Veterans Outreach CenterThe Veterans Outreach Center assists veterans of all conflicts (and in-between), and although Vietnam veterans represent the largest population served by our program, has begun to see increasing numbers of Gulf War (I & II) veterans needing assistance. The Center provides services through three primary programs: psychological counseling/therapy, benefits counseling/advocacy, and employment assistance. Supplementing these programs are support services including transportation, referrals, and emergency needs assistance. Over the course of a year the center will assist over 500 veterans with our programs. Posttraumatic Stress Disorder AllianceThe Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Alliance is a group of professional and advocacy organizations that have joined forces to provide educational resources to individuals diagnosed with PTSD and their loved ones; those at risk for developing PTSD; and medical, healthcare and other frontline professionals. Vietnam Veterans of AmericaFounded in 1978, Vietnam Veterans of America, Inc. is the only national Vietnam veterans organization congressionally chartered and exclusively dedicated to Vietnam-era veterans and their families. VVA is organized as a not-for-profit corporation and is tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(19) of the Internal Revenue Service Code. Operation Homecoming USA"America's Tribute to Vietnam Veterans" |
