Boys: Northwest Chr. 62, North Beach 36

Highlights: Seniors Chase Ramey and Jared Descoteaux combined to score 35 points as three-time defending champion Northwest Christian won their opening-round game 62-36 over North Beach.
The Hyaks kept it close early but the Crusaders (26-0) used a 12-4 second quarter run to extend their lead and never looked back.
Even with the Crusaders second-leading scorer Matt Zandbergen in early foul trouble and unable to score until the final minutes of the game, Northwest Christian was able to get contributions from other role players. Junior Daniel Kuiper scored 10 and sophomore Cole Ramey added eight off the bench.
North Beach committed 18 turnovers, which led to 16 Crusader points. Northwest Christian outrebounded the Hyaks 44-28.
Senior Jamal Lind led the Hyaks (18-8) in scoring with 12, but eight came in the opening quarter.
