Girls: Orcas Island 40, Pomeroy 39

Highlights: Orcas Island's Lanie Padbury banked in a 3-pointer as time expired to deliver a heartbreaking loss to Pomeroy and bring the Vikings the fifth-place trophy, their first ever at the state level.

Pomeroy's first-half shooting woes resurfaced, as the Pirates went 6 of 24 from the field, and the Vikings amassed 11-point lead going into the break. The Pirates forced fought all the way back, behind eight points from Karlie Martin and four from Asia Wolf, to tie the game at 29 with just more than one minute remaining in the third period.

Kacie Uto scored five unanswered for Pomeroy in the fourth, giving Pomeroy a 36-32 lead with 2:32 left to play. Stephanie Shaw then hit a 3 to bring Orcas Island within one. After a Pomeroy miss, Anika Thomas scored to give the Vikings a one-point lead. Pomeroy's Taelor Braun then got fouled on two consecutive possessions, one off an offensive rebound and the other a defensive rebound. She made 3 of 4 free throws to give Pomeroy a 39-37 lead with 5 seconds left. Braun finished with 14 points.

The Vikings then ran the length of the floor and Padbury hit the shot to win it.

There was a question as to whether her foot was in front of the line, but the officials whistled it a 3 and left the court.

Padbury finished with 16 points and 7 rebounds for the Vikings.
