Girls: White Pass 62, Liberty (Spangle) 51

Highlights: Mikel Elliot and Shaleesa Gillispie were too much for Liberty, as White Pass staved off every charge from the Lancers and emerged with a 62-51 quarterfinal win.
Elliott had a game-high 25 points for the Panthers (22-5), while Gillispie had 21 on 7-of-13 shooting. Gillispie helped the Panthers to a 21-9 first quarter, after making five three-pointers on the way to 17 first-quarter points. Gillispie spent the majority of the second and third quarters on the bench in foul trouble, but her 17 propelled the Panthers to a lead they'd never relinquish.
The Lancers (17-12) brought the game to within six late in the fourth quarter, behind juniors Taz Brooks and Kelly Hennessy, who scored 22 and 15, respectively. Brooks also added nine rebounds and four steals. Then with just under two minutes left, Elliott snared a rebound after Jeanie Mullins missed the second of two free throws and drew a foul of her own. Elliott made both free throws to give the Panthers a nine-point lead. Elliott was 13 for 21 from the free-throw line, and the Panthers were 21 of 35 collectively.
The Lancers struggled shooting the ball, as even Hennessy, who scored 20 last night against Garfield-Palouse, shot just 4 of 13 and 3 of 9 from beyond the arc. Heather Kjack shot 0 for 8 from the field, 0 for 5 from 3-point range, while Kristina Cornmesser went 0 of 5 from the field and Katy Collins shot 2 of 12.
