Boys: Davenport 63, Liberty Chr. 50
Highlights: Senior Taylor Morgan scored 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Davenport to a 63-50 win over Liberty Christian on Wednesday in the first round of the State 2B boys basketball tournament at the Spokane Arena.
Davenport (18-7) is making its first state 2B tournament appearance since 1985.
Junior Jarod Gunning added 18 points and a game-high six assists for the Gorillas, who will face Adna (19-7) in the second round.
The Gorillas trailed 32-29 at halftime but roared back with a 13-3 third quarter. They outrebounded the Patriots 39-33 and shot 43.5 percent from the field.
Mark Wilson led all scorers with 23 points for the Patriots. Teammate Joey Lane added 15 points and 11 rebounds.
