Boys: Northwest Chr. 59, Garfield-Palouse 46 (OT)

Highlights: When the time came, senior Matt Zandbergen came up huge scoring eight of his team-high 18 in overtime and pulling down 16 rebounds as Northwest Christian used everything they had left to escape 59-46 over Garfield-Palouse.

As the final 10 seconds in regulation ticked away, Garfield-Palouse turned to their senior leader Tyson Palmer who drove the lane, missed the first try but put back the second attempt as time expired to send the wild semifinal game into overtime.

It was all Northwest Christian (28-0) in overtime though as they scored all 13 points in the extra session. Senior Chase Ramey who didn’t shoot well all night scored five of his 14 in OT.

The Crusaders, who had a big size advantage down low worked that to their advantage and got to the line early and often. As a team they took 40 free throws to the Vikings 15, making 30.

Northwest Christian controlled the game early limiting the Vikings to only three first quarter points but Garfield-Palouse (22-5) quickly got back in the game as they outscored the Crusaders by seven in the second quarter.

The Crusaders came into the game averaging 24 points a victory the first two nights, but it was a different story against the Vikings. Tyson scored 12 of his game-high 19 points in the second half.
