Boys: Wahkiakum 51, St. George's 47

Highlights: Wahkiakum’s defense stepped up when it needed to as they held St. George’s to only seven fourth quarter points in a comeback 51-47 win Wednesday night in the first round.

After falling behind 10-1 to start the game, the Mules bounced back to trail by only one at the end of the third quarter. In the fourth quarter the Mules tough 2-1-2 defense caused a lot of trouble for the Dragon offense and they held the Dragons without a field goal for the final seven and a half minutes.

The Mules were led by sophomore Cody Olsen in the final quarter as he scored 6 of his team’s 12 points, including the final free throw to put the game away. Olsen led his team in scoring with 16 points to go along with two other teammates who scored in double figures.

The Dragons were led by senior Henry Butler who scored nine of his 17 points in the third quarter. Butler also led his team in rebounds with five.

Wahkiakum will play the winner of the Life Christian Academy/Toutle Lake game tomorrow at 9 p.m. St. George’s will face the loser of that game in an elimination game tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m.
