Girls: Liberty Bell 56, Liberty 30
Highlights: Liberty Bell’s powerful offense ignited the Mountain Lions to a 56-30 first-round win over Liberty.
Senior Korrie Bourn recorded a double-double for Liberty Bell (Winthrop) with 14 points (all in the first half) and 13 rebounds. Bourn shot 2 of 4 from the 3-point line. Liberty received seven points each from Heather Kjack and Taz Brooks.
Liberty Bell played aggressive half-court offense en route to a 33-12 halftime lead.
The Mountain Lions shot 36.8 percent from the field, including 5 of 15 on 3-pointers.
The young Lancers squad – a team with only one senior – earned valuable tournament experience against a well-rounded Liberty Bell team. Sophomore post Teara Cornmesser pitched in six points and seven rebounds for Liberty.
Liberty Bell advances to face Napavine Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in a winners’ bracket game; Liberty plays LaConner in a 12:30 p.m. losers’ bracket matchup.
