Boys: Lind-Ritzville 56, Seattle Lutheran 37
Highlights: After letting Seattle Lutheran pull within two points in the third quarter, Lind-Ritzville caught fire going on a 18-5 run to pull away for a 56-37 first round win in the state 2B tournament.
The Saints stuck around with the Broncos for most of the game but couldn’t buy a basket in the fourth quarter only hitting four field goals and missing both free throw chances.
The Broncos, after starting slow, really got going in the second half led by sophomore Jamie Stevenson who scored 11 of his 16 points after halftime. Senior Cory Whitmore also added 13 points for the Broncos.
The Saints used a balanced offense attack but it wasn’t enough to overcome the 33-point second half offensive output of the Broncos. Seattle Lutheran was led by junior Ryan Morgan who had 8 points and sophomore Brian Simmons who scored 7.
Lind-Ritzville will play Riverside Christian tomorrow in the quarterfinals at 7:30 p.m. while Seattle Lutheran will take on Bear Creek in a loser-out game at 12:30 p.m.
