Girls: Napavine 39, La Conner 19
Highlights: Napavine employed impressive man-to-man defense and a balanced offensive attack in a 39-19 win over LaConner at the Spokane Arena.
Laina Potter led Napavine with eight points and four steals. LaConner, making its first state tournament appearance since 1993, was paced by Sabrina Schwindler’s nine points.
Also for Napavine, Courtney May had four steals and five rebounds. Cora Kellerman led LaConner with eight rebounds.
Napavine opened the game with an 18-1 run and led 20-3 at the half.
The Tigers didn’t yield a LaConner basket until the 3:14 mark of the second quarter. LaConner had a number of looks, but the basket was unforgiving for the Braves.
LaConner outrebounded Napavine 33-27.
Napavine plays the winner of tonight’s Liberty/Liberty Bell game tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. in the winners’ bracket; LaConner faces the Liberty/Liberty Bell loser tomorrow in a 12:30 p.m. game in the losers’ bracket.
