Girls: St. George's 53, Evergreen Lutheran 32

Highlights: The St. George’s girls scored the first ten points of the game and cruised to a 53-32 win over Evergreen Lutheran in first-round action Wednesday at the Spokane Arena.

Chessey Thomas scored a game-high 16 points and Lizzie McQuade added 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Dragons, who led 14-4 after the first quarter. The Eagles fought back in the second, outscoring St. George’s 12-4 to cut the halftime deficit to just two points.

The Dragons put the game away in the second half, outscoring Evergreen Lutheran 35-16.

Kelsey D’Andrade had 11 points to lead the Eagles.

St. George’s will play White Pass Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in the second round. The Eagles will play Pomeroy in a loser-out game Thursday at 10:30 a.m.
