Boys: Northwest Chr. (Colbert) 66, Napavine 39
Highlights: Northwest Christian set the tone early in the opening round of the 2B State Championships and never trailed against Napavine. They went on a big run to begin the game and won easily, 66-39
The Crusaders (25-1) are seeking their third consecutive 2B State Championship and appeared hungry for it from the outset. They dominated the opening frame, outscoring the Tigers (10-10) 24-4. Their offense cooled in the second quarter, as they eked only 9 points but they righted themselves for the final 16 minutes and outscored the Tigers 33-24.
NWC used a balanced attack to topple Napavine, and all but two Crusaders who played also scored in the game. Chase Ramey had the game-high with 18 points and was aided by Jared Descoteaux with 15 points. Matt Zandbergen added 11 points and pulled 7 rebounds.
NWC advances to play the winner of Darrington/Northwest Christian (Lacey) tomorrow at 5:30 p.m.; Napavine will face the loser at 10:30 a.m.
