Girls: Shoreline Chr. 47, Tacoma Baptist 38
Highlights: Shoreline Christian used a strong second quarter to pull away from Tacoma Baptist and then held on to the lead in the second half for a 47-38 fifth-place victory.
Shoreline (23-3), up only two after the first quarter, turned up the pressure in the second pressing and causing turnovers, 24 in the game, to take an 11-point lead into the half.
Tacoma (20-8), led by senior Erica Tuell’s 3-point shooting (4-7), fought back to within four in the fourth quarter but it wasn’t enough for the Crusaders.
Shoreline got an array of offensive scoring from all their starters, including four who had nine or more points.
Tacoma, making their second state appearance ever and first since 1994, will take home a trophy for the first time, an eighth-place finish.
