Girls: Pomeroy 52, Evergreen Lutheran 49
Highlights: Pomeroy, led by senior Jordan Beale’s 11 fourth-quarter points, came from behind to beat the Eagles 52-49 in a loser-out game at the Spokane Arena.
The Pirates fell into a 48-42 hole after Ashley Daniels hit a jumper with 4:52 remaining in the contest. Junior Kacie Uto nailed a 3-pointer and Beale made a driving shot and a sideline jumper sandwiched between a Grace Bender free throw for Evergreen Lutheran to tie it 49-49 with 2:42 left.
Taelor Braun recorded 15 points for the Pirates before fouling out with 3:23 left in the fourth. But the Eagles missed shots down the stretch and Pomeroy converted 3-of-6 free throws in the final minute and a half to eliminate the Eagles.
Beale and Michelle FitzGerald had eight rebounds each for the Pirates. Daniels grabbed seven boards for the Eagles.
The game featured seven ties and nine lead changes. Pomeroy’s biggest lead was eight points (18-10) and the Eagles led by as many as six (48-42).
