Girls: King's West 48, Tacoma Baptist 30

Highlights: The King’s West girls basketball team was too much for Tacoma Baptist to handle in the first round of the 2B State tournament Wednesday at the Spokane Arena.

Megan Spence scored a game-high 23 points and grabbed seven rebounds and the Warriors used a dominating second-quarter effort to beat the Crusaders 48-30.

Megan Morris added 10 points for King’s West, which outscored Tacoma Baptist 15-4 in the second quarter to take a 27-14 halftime lead. The Warriors outscored the Crusaders 13-5 in the third to put the game away.

Tacoma Baptist was led by Melanie Shank, who scored 17 points.

King’s West will play the winner between LaSalle and Northwest Christian in the second round Thursday at 4 p.m. Tacoma Baptist will meet the loser of that game in the consolation second round at 9 a.m.
