Boys: Liberty Bell 57, Reardan 45
Highlights: Liberty Bell overcame a slow first quarter to control the last three frames and knock off Reardan 57-45 in the first round of the 2B State Championships.
The Mountain Lions (18-4) were paced by Tre Aherns who scored a game-high 18 points and missed only 1 of his 6 shots from the field. His teammates shot well too, and Liberty Bell boasted a 60.7 field goal percentage for the game. Reardan (22-6) only shot 34 percent.
But despite the hot shooting, the Mountain Lions managed only 7 points in the opening quarter. They rebounded quickly though, and outscored Reardan by 17 points in the final 24 minutes.
Ryan Schulz scored a team-high 16 points for the Indians, but was not helped much by his teammates. The next leading scorers for the Indians were Ross Nesbitt and Mike Matson who each chipped in 6 points.
Liberty Bell will face the winner of Wellpinit/LaConner tomorrow at 4 p.m.; Reardan will play the loser tomorrow at 9 a.m.
