Girls: Mossyrock 60, White Pass 46

Highlights: The Vikings got the win that mattered most. After losing to the Panthers twice during the regular season, they beat their league rivals 60-46 in the third-place game.

The Vikings (23-7) came out of the gates on fire jumping out to a 22-9 first quarter lead.

The Panthers (21-5) did their best to fight back, even taking a short one-point lead in the third quarter. In the end though it was the defending state champs that played with the most composure down the stretch.

A big key to the Viking win was the defense they implemented against Panther senior star Breanna Moody. Viking head coach Fred Hendricks set up a box and one around Moody that shut her down all night. Moody, who was averaging 24 points in the state tournament coming in, finished the game with just three.

The Vikings were led in the first half by junior Elena Belcher, who scored 14 of her 20 points in the first quarter, and by senior Sarah Petrino in the second half, scoring 10 of her 20 in the fourth quarter.

The Vikings were cool under pressure hitting 14-15 free throws in the fourth quarter.
