St. George’s was started in 1955 by a group of well-to-do Spokane parents who wanted to start a top-notch, college-prep school in Spokane. So they bought the summer estate of hotel magnate Louis Davenport along the Little Spokane River and started the school. Little did they know that a few decades later their dream would result in a B basketball dynasty. (The school also boasts the highest SAT scores in the county, but that's of limited interest during basketball season.)
