The area known as Willapa Valley is located on state Highway 6, about five miles east of the bustling metropolis of Raymond. Nearby Grayland is home to the Furford Cranberry Museum. Willie Keil is buried nearby (according to the Rand McNally Road Atlas). The school has been to the state tournament 24 times, placing 11 times. The team won the state B title in 1981 and the AAA tourney in 1936. School officials believe Willapa Valley is the only school to ever do this. Who are we to argue?

The State 2B basketball tournament runs
Feb. 28-March 3 in the Spokane Arena.
