In a rematch of last year's championship game, a La Salle win, the Tigers led the most of the way.
After trailing by as many as 12, the Lightning clawed their way to within four points with less than 2 minutes left, thanks in part to Napavine's 16 percent shooting in the second half. The Lightning's comeback took advantage of a 10-minute scoring drought from the Tigers.
With 2 minutes left in the game, La Salle's Melissa McCanna drew a foul inside and hit both free throws to make the score 44-40. Elaun Sherwood scored to extend Napavine's lead to six, and on La Salle's next possession Savanah Bonny's lob pass went through the hands of Alicia Ashby.
Sherwood then drew a foul and made the second of two free throws to give the Tigers a 47-40 advantage. La Salle was forced to foul the rest of the way.
