Neah Bay 58, Sunnyside Chr. 50 (OT)
Highlights: After giving up a last-second shot in regulation, the Red Devils practiced some serious damage control in overtime to win the trophy game for fourth and seventh place. Sunnyside Christian's Luke Meinenger swished a 3-pointer from the left side of the arc with 1.7 seconds left to knot the game at 50. It was fitting the teams played four more minutes as there were seven ties and 13 lead changes during regulation. But Neah Bay posted a shutout in the extra period. Offensively, Henry Cross and Bradley Reamer each hit a basket and two free throws to complete the scoring. Timothy Greene had a team-high 17 points and eight rebounds. The senior joined the century club with 121 points in seven games. Cross, who had 14 points, eight boards, two assists and two steals, converted 32 of 38 free throws (84.2 percent) to rank seventh all-time at state. Darryl Svec, also a senior, contributed 13 points against SC. Knights standout Chad Den Boer set a new tournament record for 3-point shooting accuracy, making 24 of 51 attempts (47 percent). In his final high school game, De Boer had 26 points, seven rebounds and two steals. The senior totaled 191 points in 15 games at state. Neah Bay brought home its fourth trophy in 12 state appearances. Sunnyside Christian earned its seventh trophy in 14 trips to state.
