Sprague-Harrington 75, Toutle Lake 62
Highlights: Sprague-Harrington rode the sharp-shooting of Stacie Shields to outscore Toutle Lake in the trophy game for fifth and eighth place.
Shields lit up the Ducks' defense with 24 points on 50 percent shooting, hitting 3 of 4 3-pointers. The 5-9 guard added 13 rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot. A senior, Shields amassed 137 points in 10 games at state.
Junior Roni Jo Mielke also joined the century club with 107 points. She had an outstanding game as well with 20 points on 62 percent shooting (8-13), plus 10 rebounds, six assists and five steals.
Natalie Deking and Maria Rustemeyer each scored 11 points. Deking was 3 for 8 on 3-pointers and now ranks 10th at state, going 13 for 38 (34.2 percent).
Senior guard Jessi Hanna led Toutle Lake with 20 points - 14 in the second half - four rebounds and three steals. Junior Lindsey Scheffler had 19 points, three assists and three steals. Kayla Vickaryous, also a junior, added 11 points.
Sprague-Harrington entered state undefeated and top ranked but was upset in its tourney opener. However, the Falcons came back to win three straight, their third fifth-place trophy in four appearances. Toutle Lake got its third trophy in five trips to state.
