St. John-Endicott 80, Willapa Valley 69

Highlights: The Eagles parlayed clutch baskets and key defensive plays into a come-from-behind win over Willapa Valley in consolation action.
Down four points at intermission, St. John-Endicott opened the second half with a 7-0 run, and never relinquished that lead. Phillip Luft literally took charge at the other end as the Eagles junior took three charging calls against the Vikings in third quarter.
Senior teammate Bryce Johnson had 26 points to lead all scorers. And after Willapa Valley had rallied to tie the game at 64 on Ryan Freeman's 3-point play with 3:50 left, Brent Leifer and Jesse Butcher each hit a pair of big baskets, the Eagles' 8-0 run making it 72-64 with 1:37 remaining.
Leifer finished with 16 points and Butcher 14. Justin Taylor added 12 points and seven rebounds.
Freeman had 24 points and 10 rebounds for the Vikings. Brady Langer and Lance Anderson each scored 13 points, the latter also pulling down 12 boards.
Willapa Valley, which advanced undefeated to the 2005 title game, entered this year's tourney as the top-ranked team but went 0-2 at state.
