DeSales 67, Republic 56

Highlights: Like their major college counterpart, the Irish pulled off a big-time upset by shocking defending state champion Republic Wednesday night.
DeSales (23-1) parlayed quality shooting (52.2 percent from the floor) and smothering defense (the Tigers shot just 38.2 percent) in claiming its tournament opener Wednesday night.
Junior wing Casey Worth paced the Irish with 14 points. Senior Nick Conloey netted 13 on 5-for-6 shooting, also getting four rebounds and four asists. Nick Richard added 11 points, hitting 3 of 5 3-pointers.
Junior Zach Gianukakis led the Tigers (25-3) with 16 points, five rebounds and two steals. Senior center Kyle Lehn had 12 points and five boards. Sophomore Derek Gianukakis contributed 10 points and five rebounds.
