Mossyrock 54, Garfield-Palouse 51

Highlights: Lexi Belcher set a 3-point field goal tournament record but it was teammate Corina Allen's long-distance basket that proved to be the difference as Mossyrock edged Gar-Pal in opening-round action Wednesday.
Belcher buried nine 3-pointers - in the first three quarters - to break the former mark of eight made by former Mossyrock standout Staci Hendricks against Mount Vernon in 2002.
Then late in the fourth quarter Allen hit her 3-pointer, giving Mossyrock a 53-50 lead with 56 seconds remaining. The team total of 10 was one shy of Pateros' 11 made versus North Beach in 2001.
Belcher, a 5-9 sophomore, amassed 32 points on 10-of-17 shooting, going 9-for-12 past the arc. Another sophomore, Tisa Pelletier, contributed six points and 11 rebounds for Mossyrock (22-3).
Three seniors led Gar-Pal (22-3). Holli Holbrook tallied 20 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals. Monica Boone completed a double-double with 12 points and 10 boards, plus four steals. Brenda Hershaw added 10 points.
