Highlights: The undefeated Vikings held off upset-minded LaCrosse/Washtucna to win their state tourney opener Wednesday morning.
Ryan Freeman hit two free throws to gave WV a 61-55 cushion with 8.9 seconds left. The junior guard finished with 17 points, four rebounds and three assists. Sophomore teammate Brady Langer scored a game-high 18 points. Senior Zach Baugher posted 15 points and Lance Anderson pulled down 14 rebounds for the Vikings (25-0).
Senior guard Craig Koller led the Tigercats (20-6) with 16 points. Classmate Justin Mckenzie added 12 points and Josh Chastain, also a senior, had 11 points.
