Spokane Audubon list of birds at risk A list of birds at risk in Washington state, broken down by the severity of threats to their habitat and survival: Birds of immediate concern: Those with small populations that have shown steep declines over all or part of their ranges, or face rapid habitat loss: •Snowy plover •Long-billed curlew •Red knot •Marbled murrelet •American bittern •Northern goshawk •Spotted owl •Black swift •White-headed woodpecker •Olive-sided flycatcher •Ferruginous hawk •Greater sage-grouse •Sharp-tailed grouse •Loggerhead shrike •Streak-horned lark •Oregon Vesper sparrow Birds of high concern: Those that remain fairly common but have seen population declines and habitat losses: •Western grebe •Trumpeter swan •Caspian tern •Purple martin •Lewis's woodpecker •Golden eagle •Band-tailed pigeon •Flammulated owl •Prairie falcon •Burrowing owl •Short-eared owl •Sage thrasher •Brewer's sparrow •Sage sparrow •Short-eared owl Early warning birds: Considered potentially at risk because of their rarity, downward population trends, limited distribution and limited habitat.
