Child-care providers honored

Several North Idaho child-care providers and programs were honored last week by the North Idaho Association for the Education of Young Children at the organization's 11th Early Childhood Professional Recognition Event.

Christ the King Child Development Center received the Coeur d'Alene Mayor's Award for Excellence in Child Care, presented by Mayor Sandi Bloem.

Carlyn's Child Care, of Hayden, and Iris' House Pre-School, of Coeur d'Alene, were recognized for their accreditation through the National Association for Family Child Care.

Little Folks Preschool and Kindergarten, of Coeur d'Alene, was honored for achieving re-accreditation through the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

The event was part of the national Week of the Young Child, which honors the people, programs and policies that help improve children's futures. More than 100 local child-care providers attended the event.
