 - JASPER, Leland (Lee)
- Was born on June 1, 1923 in Withrow, WA and went to be with his savior Jesus Christ on June 29, 2009 with family around him. He graduated from Davenport High School in 1941, where he was a four year letterman in four sports. He attended Washington State College before
- enlisting in the Army 326th Glider Infantry Regiment in the European Theater during WWII. He returned to Davenport, WA and married Gladys Ferguson "for her Philco radio with a record player and bank account of $100". They
- lived happily ever after for 60 years. Throughout his life he was a chicken rancher, managed the egg department at URM, was the owner of the downtown and Northtown Mr. Steak, and owned a food brokerage business. He
- was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church for 48 years. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and VFW. 'Papa' is remembered by family and friends as a loving and generous man with a quick wit, who greeted everyone with a smile and kind words. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, and brother. He is survived by his wife of 60 years; daughters Beverly (Lolo) Hopoi of Spokane and Jan Jasper of Carnation WA; four grandchildren Andy (Donna) Hopoi of Aiea HI, Katy (Mike) Henry of Colbert, Gina (Scott) McGlocklin of Mead, Will (Jaime) Hopoi of Malibu CA; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at 11:00am at St. Luke Lutheran Church on North Division in Spokane WA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Luke Lutheran Memorial Fund.

- Garry passed away June
- 30, 2009 due to health
- complications. A lifelong resident of Spokane, he was born on September 7, 1948, the only child of Alton C. and Dorothy T. Churchill.
- He graduated from Shadle Park High School in 1966. Garry was an excellent
- carpenter but was good at anything he attempted. He also enjoyed yard work, camping, boating, and was an avid snowmobiler in earlier years. Many people will have fond memories of Garry with a Budweiser in his hand. Former member of Spokane Winter Knights, Spokane Yacht Club, Inland Empire Mustang Club and Inland Empire Blues Society. His favorite outing of the year was the Ritzville Blues Festival.
- Garry is survived by his wife Laurie, sons Dean (Misty), Todd (Michelle) and Shaun and daughter Kristen (Eric), grandchildren Deidra, Nichole,Nathan, Katie, MacKenzie and Emma and numerous friends and family. A memorial service will be held at a date to be announced later. Donations may be made to Arthritis Foundation at arthritis.com or the northwest chapter at 3876 Bridge Way N. #300, Seattle WA 98103 or the charity of your choice. Arrangements are through Community Cremation Service.

- Longtime resident of theCheney area passed away June 29, 2009 at the family homestead near Lamont where he was born on February 15, 1905 to Bard and Pearl (Davis) Cook. He was a graduate of Sprague High School and Washington State College. He taught math and science at Rockford, Ellensburg and Cheney High Schools. In 1935 he married Emelia Okert who preceded him in death in 2006. Memorial contributions may be made to Family Home Care, 22820 E. Appleway Ave.,Liberty Lake WA 99019 or the Lamont Community Church. He is survived by his son, Allen and "daughter" Diane Cook at the home; three grandchildren, Rob (Tracye) Cook, Donna (Tracy) Durand and Sandi (Dennis) Miller; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers Everett and Harry. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8th at Cheney Community Church, 1307 3rd St. in Cheney. Private family burial at Spokane Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

- Lorraine Marie "Rainie" Bley of Spokane, WA passed away June 28, 2009 in
- Spokane. Born, February 10, 1922 in Davenport, WA. Rainie graduated from
- Davenport High School in 1940. Rainie is survived by her children, Bobbie and Bill
- Palm, Dixie and Bill Amis,
- Michael and Anne Bley and Carol White, her sister, Lila Howard and her nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Lilienthal. Rainie was the daughter of Edward and Lena Lilienthal and was married to Frederick Bley for 62 years (all deceased). Rainie was kind and gentle soul who will be missed dearly by her family and friends. Memorial Services will be held at Fairmount Memorial Park at 4pm on Thursday, July 2nd, 5200 W. Wellesley, Spokane, 509-326-3800. Services will be officiated by Happy Watkins.

  - McTAGUE, Joseph Walter
- (Age 88)
- Born March 24, 1921 in Flandreau, SD; passed away June 28, 2009 inSpokane. Joseph was raised on a farm in South Dakota. He was a Map Reader, runner and a field musician while serving in the Marine Corps during WWII. He was wounded in action twice in the Pacific Theater and received two Purple Hearts and a Presidential Medal. Joseph was a colon cancer survivor. He worked as a bellhop, clerk at Montgomery Wards, drove a candy and tobacco truck then worked at Kaiser Aluminum Mead where he started in the pot rooms and finished driving hazmat trucks where he retired after 32 years. He owned and operated Gaffners' Café with his wife Beverly and family. Joseph enjoyed woodworking and was a meticulous gardener. He loved dancing, and his greatest joy was being with friends and family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly; three step children: Robert Kerr, Donna Barnett, Bud Kerr; sister, Rita Cochran and brother,Emmett McTague. Survivors include his children: Kathy (David) Beyer of Grand Junction, CO, Cheryl Brown of Redmond, OR, Sherle McTague of Spokane, Jackie Snider of Mead; 20 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 1, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at the funeral home. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, July 2, at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will be at Riverside Memorial Terrace at 12:00 noon. Arrangements by
