Funeral for Lawrence Christensen, 88, will be Monday at 5:30 p.m. at Rockford Methodist Church. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery. Schanzenbach Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Christensen, who was born in Duluth, Minn., died Sunday.

He came to Rockford in 1934 and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

He ran the Phillips 66 Station, and he sold it in 1963. He worked for Grinnell Co., and later worked at and retired from Grinnell Fire Co.

Mr. Christensen enjoyed working on cars and driving.

Survivors include two daughters, Leota Harnasch and Diane Couch; three sisters, one brother; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
