Graduation

Classmates ready for future
New Shadle Park graduates strengthened by years together

The four years spent strolling the halls of high school are frequently recalled as some of the best of a person's life. Looking back on our four years, the members of Shadle Park's Class of 2003 can most definitely identify with this statement.

As we entered the halls of Shadle in 1999, we were a body of typically callow underclassman. Now, we are a collection of respectful, responsible and likable young adults who will go into the world thankful for the education and friendships gained throughout our high school careers.

We have been “the guinea pig class.” As a class, we were the first to experience academic changes, such as integrated math classes, and the first to receive the Character Counts! doctrine. We've had two wonderful principals. We've also dealt with changes in the world around us, forcing us to take notice of happenings outside and to hope for a positive future.

If our class is not notable as the recipient of changes, it may be distinguished by incredible kindness and determination. We have been devoted to school charity efforts, helping our community whenever the opportunity arises, such as our annual Adopt-A-Family efforts. Our class's dedication to academic excellence is evident in our 13 valedictorians and our three gold

medal-winning Spokane Scholars. Everything we put our force behind receives 100 percent, whether it is a jazz festival, a cross country race or the annual school musical.

As we depart from the halls we've decorated, danced in and, at times, trudged through almost unwilling, we bring the lessons we've learned from our administrators, teachers and classmates. We go forth into the next stage of living, prepared and fortified by our years together.

More importantly, we go to finish creating the people who have sprung so promisingly from the soil of Shadle Park.
