The Grand Pennington Ballroom and the Hall of Doges at the Davenport Hotel will be the site of the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture's annual fall gala Friday.

The formal fund-raiser will feature live music by Tuxedo Junction, hors d'oeuvres and fine dining.

Tickets for an upcoming raffle will also be sold beginning Friday. The $25 tickets will buy a chance to win a new 2003 Mercedes Benz SLK. The drawing will be in February.

Tickets for the gala are $150 per person, and
reservations are required. Call the museum at 456-3931 for reservations.

Cats take over Riverfront Park

The Kootenai Humane Society will offer cats for adoption in Riverfront Park Saturday and next Sunday in conjunction with the Purina Cat Chow Way of Life touring group. Hours for the events are from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.

Cats will be available for adoption both days, and cat experts will be on hand to answer questions on caring for your feline. Cat training demonstrations will begin at noon, 2 and 4 p.m. each day.

The cost of adopting a cat ranges from $15 to $35, which includes vaccinations, an exam and spaying or neutering. Everyone who adopts a cat will receive a free kitten care kit from Purina.
