Coeur d'Alene teacher elected chair of NEA caucus

Coeur d'Alene _ Local teacher JoAnn Harvey was recently voted chairwoman-elect of the American Indian/Alaskan Native Caucus, a committee of the National Education Association.

Harvey, a Nez Perce Tribe member and former Coeur d'Alene Education Association president, will lead the national committee for two years beginning in the fall of 2002.

The American Indian/Alaskan Native Caucus promotes the education of Indian children and facilitates the NEA in efforts at diversit
y within student populations.
