Camp offers scholarships for diabetic kids

Marny Lombard

Camp Fun in the Sun, a summer camp for children with diabetes, is offering scholarships to diabetic children whose families cannot afford the costs of camp.

The scholarships, made possible with the help of the American Diabetes Association, are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

They will cover the full cost of a week at the camp.

Camp sessions run from July 29 though Aug. 2 for children in grades 1-6 and Aug. 5-11 for children in grades 7-12. Camp Fun in the Sun
is deputing at a new location this year -- Camp Larson on Lake Coeur d'Alene.

The camp, which is sponsored by Community Health Education and Resources, is one of a few across the country accredited by the American Camping Association and endorsed by the American Diabetes Association.

For more information about scholarships or attending the camp, call CHER at 473-6960 or visit the camp's Web site at www.campfuninthesun.org.
