Fortunetelling legal again in Coeur d'Alene

From our staff

Coeur d'Alene _ The Coeur d'Alene City Council has repealed a 1957 law that outlawed any form of fortunetelling.

The council voted 5-1 Tuesday night to repeal the law, City Councilman Ron Edinger said.

"I said four weeks ago that I felt it should be repealed," Edinger said.

The council instructed City Attorney Jeff Jones to research the situation.

"He (Jones) said it was basically unconstitutional," Edinger said of the law.

Councilman Chris Copstead was the only
no vote.

The law came under scrutiny by downtown business owners who wanted to offer palm readings.
