Aryan letter revealed as hoax

A letter to the Spokane City Council purporting to be from Aryan Nations Pastor Richard Butler turned out to be a hoax.

The letter, received by fax Wednesday, took the form of a request by Butler to deliver the council's invocation.

When reached for comment, Butler denied sending the letter.

The letter was probably prompted by Monday's council vote to uphold the council's tradition of holding a prayer before its meeting.

The identity of the letter's author was not kn
own Wednesday.
