Heytvelt recuperates from surgery

Gonzaga forward Josh Heytvelt, who missed the first 11 games of the 2007-08 season following surgery on a stress fracture in his right foot/ankle, had another operation on the same foot/ankle last week.

Heytvelt's injury apparently wasn't healing properly, so last week two screws were inserted in different places. Two screws were inserted during the original procedure Nov. 12, the day after GU's season opener.

Heytvelt is on crutches and his foot is in a cast. He has plenty of time to heal and figures to be back on the court this summer. He missed about six weeks following the initial surgery.

Heytvelt averaged 10.3 points and 4.9 rebounds per game during his junior season.

Micah Downs also had a minor operation on his foot after the season, but he has returned to the court.
