Prepped at Claremont High where he was coached by Mike Collins…lettered twice in football (wide receiver, defensive back), three in track (sprinter) and one in basketball (point guard)…football team was 14-7 during his two varsity seasons.

BURNETT’S AZUSA PACIFIC CAREER: FRESHMAN (1998-99): Redshirt season for head coach Vic Shealy and the Cougars…team won national NAIA title. RS-FRESHMAN: 1999-00): Played in 11 of 12 games for new head coach Peter Shinnick…started six games at cornerback…made 40 tackles, forced four fumbles, deflected six passes, and made three interceptions…team was 9-3 and advanced to the semifinals of the NAIA playoffs.

WSU highlights
RS-SOPHOMORE (2000-01): Transferred to WSU and did not see any action. RS-JUNIOR (2001-02): Saw limited action.
