Cover letter
Plenty of goals, no nonsense
I am a third generation Valleyite, known as a ``no-nonsense'' politician who fights for citizens rights in dealing with government issues. I practice the virtues of fairness, equality, and accountability. Most important, I will be elected not because of special interest group campaign money, but because of trust and integrity issues that my constituents expect from a ``candidate of the people.'' My goal is to accomplish the following priorities: To enhance public Safety Services so that citizens are encouraged to call the Police, instead of discouraged to do so.
To improve and continually maintain roads. To encourage economic development by attracting new businesses, protecting existing businesses, which will provide livable wage jobs to citizens.
To protect our air, water, and expecially, the aquifer.
To provide social services to our citizens.
I support building more community and senior citizen centers. My agenda includes continual communication between citizens, the business community and myself so I can make decisions based on input from my constituents. I am a fiscally responsible person and foresee initially contracting with Spokane County for major existing services, until a healthy balanced budget dictates change. Permit processing must be streamlined. Unlike other council members, I will propose ``no new taxes.''
My extensive Law Enforcement experience, political background, and involvement with citizen groups, will benefit our new city and its constituents. I promise that under my terms, ``A Government of the People and by the People shall prevail!''
Thank you for your vote.
Respectfully,
John G. Kallas Candidate for City Council Position 3
