Davenport memory

Submitted by:
Vicki Trefry

I have fond memories of the Davenport Hotel. My husband and I spent our honeymoon there. We were married March 3rd, 1973. We were both 17 years

old and had no money for a honeymoon but my uncle gave us 40 dollars so we went to the Davenport. Back then $40 bought our room for the night, a meal from room service and our gas for the drive back to Chattaroy the next day. It was a beautiful room and our first night ever spent in a hotel. We are still married today - 29 years later and have two grown

children and one and a half grandchildren. You never know for our 30th anniversary we may just book a room there again but I bet 40 dollars won't even begin to cover it, will it?
