I worked at the Davenport in the early 40's as a Page Boy, during high school. I remember going through the halls in the old Pennington hotel to the deli to get ice cream and then wait behind the telephone operators for my next page. If I was lucky the Bell Hop might let me help them with luggage and met some old time stars. I remember that the coins were all washed and shiny and the bills were all like new and crisp. I enjoyed my time at the Davenport.
