Davenport memory

Submitted by:
Marcella Bennett

Forty years ago my friend Cleo Brennan and I, while working as Service Representatives for AT&T (formerly known as Pacific NW Bell), competed for

and often won the monthly sales contest. The coveted prize was a $15.00 gift certificate for the Matador Room at the Davenport Hotel. This allowed

the winner and her husband to each enjoy the delicious Chateau Briand and the flaming Cherries Jubilee if you skipped the salad course. We would save our prize until the other one also won; then dressed in our best, we would meet at the Davenport where our husbands would treat us to a famous Purple Bull before-dinner drink which included the hand-blown replica of a purple bull head with metal bell swizzle stick keepsake. Those were the days!!
