Davenport memory

Submitted by:
Family Cannon

Our grandmother lived in the Davenport Hotel in the 50's & early 60's.

We loved to visit her in Room 1123. When we visited her, our favorite bellman "Murray" would make sure there were shiny silver dollars in the tip bowl for us (and him). Grandmother wanted us to see the inauguration of President Eisenhower. She rented a television from the hotel and we called Room Service and ordered "cokes". We decided to take the stairs

to the Lobby rather than the elevator. We didn't count on the elevator that followed us from floor to floor to make sure we behaved. We have wonderful memories of the Blue Bird shop, the florist, and the lobby. We look forward to exploring our childhood.
