Davenport memory

Submitted by:
Ed and Echo Lynam

It was January 4th 1941, we were married in Miles City Montana, we left that night on our Honeymoon

on the Milwaukee Hiawatha , we arrived in Spokane Union Depot the morning of Jan 5th , we walked

from the depot carrying our suitcases to the Davenport Hotel, when we walked in and saw the large

beautiful lobby, we said WOW, this is too expensive for us, I guess they felt sorry for us and gave

us a room for five dollars. What a night to remember in a beautiful Big Hotel . But it didn't last to long, we couldn't afford another Five dollars, and we left next morning for Seattle and a cheaper hotel.

But we will always remember the Davenport Hotel, we hope, now that its being reopened, to spend

another night there in our five dollar room.
