Davenport memory

Submitted by:
Caroline Charlton

I have wonderful memories of the Davenport Hotel from the Years 1954, 1955 and 1956. During those years I was in 4-H Taking Gardening and Sears Roebuck honored the Blue Ribbon Gardens with a dinner at the ballroom of the Davenport. I have cherised those and am so glad that the Hotel is opening. I hope someday to have dinner there again.

Those invited were the winners and their parents and to us it was a trip into elegance that we could not have afforded any other way than to be a guest in the dining room. 4-H and Sears have made an impact on me as to this day I still raise a garden and do my canning and freezing. It has been a part of our family always.
