I just couldn't resist the opportunity to reminisce in a wonderful memory I have of the Davenport about 50 years ago. My grandparents, who lived in Spokane, took me to the Matador Room for dinner for very special occasions.
As a young girl, I was enthralled by the special desert served with such flair. It was "Sherbet in a Cloud" -- a small crystal dish of sherbet nestled in a larger crystal dish filled with dry ice. This was my first introduction
to dry ice and its "magical" properties. Cemented in my memory is that experience which at the time seemed to embody the elegance of the Davenport.
I felt like a fairy princess!
I still have a matchbook from the Matador Room with the red rose on the back which my grandfather collected, along with the container in which he had kept them.
