Aged bowl holds its own over time

This porcelain bowl was likely made sometime before WWI.

Dear Collector,

The bowl in these photos was given to me in 1950 by my aunt. Can you tell me its value and how old it is?

Hand painted with a floral design, your bowl was made sometime before The Great War by Noritake, a Japanese firm whose name is synonymous with fine export porcelain wares. Without knowing its exact dimensions, I'd have to suggest a value of between $60 and $75.

Dear Collector,

Does this Coke ad from a 1926 "Ladies Home Journal" magazine have any monetary value? I have the original framed and hanging in my bedroom.

Commemorating the year of your birth, this full page in color is worth $15-$25 plus what ever you paid for the framing.

Dear Collector,

The enclosed photo is of an envelope from Cape Canaveral on Feb. 20, 1962, bearing a first day cover 4-cent stamp of Project Mercury. Does it have any value?

Current value ranges from $4 to over $8.

Dear Collector,

I have a blue and white gravy boat marked "Eclipse, Johnson Bros." Would you know the value?

Dating from approximately 1900, your flow blue piece from one of Britain's largest potteries lists for $35.

Dear Collector,

I have an original Mrs. Beasley doll. What is it worth?

Specifics, specifics, specifics! What size doll? (there are three) Condition (clothing and glasses intact?) In most cases, a thorough question elicits a thorough answer.

Dear Collector,

Enclosed is a copy of my series 1953 $2 bill. Is it worth more than face value?

Listed in a very fine condition, meaning there are no obvious folds or tears, your Legal Tender Note could be worth as much as $5.

Dear Collector,

I would like to know the price on this 100-year-old "Aunt Jemima" cookie jar by McCoy.

Hardly a hundred in age or value, your mid-1940s jar is correctly called a "Mammy."

Dear Collector,

Recently we were cleaning out a family home and found a #117 "Archie's Girls" comic book. Could you give us some idea of its value?

The girls in this comic's title are, of course, Veronica and Betty. This issue, worth about $10, dates to 1965.

Dear Collector,

My great-uncle, Eugene Cocreham, was a pitcher with the Boston Braves when they won the World Series in 1914. Each member received this lapel pin inscribed "World Champions 1914." I am curious as to it value?

Your uncle Gene did not make an appearance in the Series which the Braves swept from the Philadelphia Athletics in four games. Nonetheless, he was eligible for this award which now has a value of $5,000 to $6,000.
