Welcome Home!

Every new year brings new opportunities to shine

Cheryl-Anne Millsap   /  The Spokesman-Review

It's a brand new year. That means a fresh new look at the world.

I'm not much for desperate self-improvement resolutions. There are too many false starts and broken promises behind me.

But I do like the idea of opening my eyes, and my mind, to a new outlook on the first day of the New Year. That's not too hard to do. And if it leads me to get healthier, work more efficiently or just be a kinder person, well, so much the better.

And, here at Home, the same applies.

Not a lot is changing. Some old standards are getting a facelift. And I've got a few ideas I'd like to try.

This week in Home

If you watch Home and Garden Network programming, you've probably realized that HGTV spends a lot of time in this area. Spokane and North Idaho homes make frequent guest appearances.

This week's cover feature brings you the story of a man who is a real do-it-yourselfer. His home, and his artwork, were filmed last year.

Our Newcomers page introduces a couple who chose Spokane as their new home, and we've got a fun project for winter artwork for your home in the HomeMaker column.

Finally, because good things can get better, the Treasure Hunting column is getting an update. Take a look at Page 4 and let me know what you think.

Happy New Year.
