About this race: One of the only Democrats representing North Idaho, retired government teacher George Sayler is seeking a fourth term. Education is a key concern, along with the keeping Idaho’s economy healthy and working to attract and keep living-wage jobs. He has worked for several years to pass legislation to increase regulations on child care facilities. He says he brings a balanced, reasonable approach to government. Republican Jim Hollingsworth also lists education as a priority -- especially for primary grades. “A child that learns to read is an asset and a child that does not learn to read is a liability,” Hollingsworth said. He pledges to never raise taxes.
