About this race: Incumbent Timm Ormsby won more than twice as many votes as Republican Mike Novak in the primary. Novak has made a "no more taxes" pledge on his Web site. If elected, he said he would sponsor a bill that distributes tax money based on the county in which it's collected. Ormsby says he deserves to be reelected because he has been responsive to his district's needs.

Constituency: District includes most of the city of Spokane between Francis Avenue on the north and 17th Avenue on the south. West of Ash Street, the district only goes as far north as Providence Avenue. The district extends south of 17th in some areas.
